This year were one important change near Mai School where mounted thermal camera and LED lights warning system. This kind of system, where thermal camera is fixing the zebra crossing person and alerting car drivers with the blinking yellow lights bar on the road sign, Tammela do not know anywhere else in Estonia and neighbour countries. Would be great if we could use this solution other places in Pärnu as well.

It is an innovative light warning solution, what tested near one of the city's largest school. Feedback what reached to us is very positive. In particular, road-users have expressed surprise at how the new system works. The partners of the police rescue and ambulance crews praise this solution. Accordingly, we are thinking of using similar solutions near other childcare institutions in Pärnu.

Why SafeLight system is required

On time information

Car drivers have information about the pedestrians on time. There will be enough time to slow down the driving speed

Poor visibility

SafeLight system brings out potential threat in traffic despite the weather conditions. Rain, fog, snowfall or other heavy weather conditions, where there is hard to notice pedestrians. On dark or dim time, even pedestrian with the reflector can stay unnoticed.

Disability movement

Persons with disabilities needs often more time to cross the road but system LED lights will be active until person have crossed the road

Multiline carriageway

Pedestrian can be behind the stopped front car and therefore unseen by cars what come on second line. SafeLight system is blinking on all light at the same time and driver can predict that someone is on the road.

Children

Often children are unable to value speed and distance of the moving car. SafeLight system is helping car driver to act on time.

Short description on the system

Thermal camera

Thermal cameras are equipped with special sensor systems, what allows according to giver radius and fixed temperature detect living organisms near the camera. Technically it is possible add to cameras detection function interface, which is followed by the signal recognition. For this recognition is suitable LED light bars. SafeLight'i team designs and develops an LED light solution what takes into account the specific characteristics and needs on every crosswalk.

How its working

The safety system is universal and in practice benefits maximum number of users. This setting allows to prevent risks and accidents, by increasing the visibility and catching attention in poor or in limited visibility conditions. This alert indicates a specific cause-and-effect relation, where light alerts driver that pedestrians crossing the road. There is no chance that the lights is switched on without a pedestrian and therefore it’s not possible to ignore the alert. Collusions with pedestrians is statistically second most frequent type of traffic accidents and mostly thus accidents happening on not regulated zebras and inside the villages. SafeLight team vision is to help to prevent this kind of accidents in the future.

PS! System is not regulating traffic juridically. This means that SafeLight system is not equal with traffic light. Traffic light gives privilege to green light user and red light obligates to stop. SafeLight system is alerting car driver and helps pedestrians to be more visible. Light system have informative function what alerts all persons in traffic to be more careful and cautious

15. November morning near Pärnu Mai School crosswalk SafeLigt and Police in reflective vests is double secure system! Police can’t be there for ou all the time and You , dear pedestrian and You , dear vehicle driver, ae responsible for safe traffic. Driver sees SafeLight system plinking lights first than persons who is waiting to cross the road. Let’s be more cautious and careful in traffic on wintertime. Let’s make sure it’s safe to cross the road and drive safely. Safe driving to all!!

SafeLight system near the Mai School

15. april, 2016. Pärnu Postimees First safety system were installed with cooperation with Pärnu Town Government in front of the Mai School crosswalk. More accidents happens on fall and winter season, as there is more children who is in traffic alone. There is more really young children who’s parents have taught how to act in traffic and how to reach needed places safely. But children can be sometimes oblivious and can be unpredicted. SafeLight OÜ system helps to ensure safer traffic to all children. System is alerting driver with plinking yellow LED lights on the road sign and this helps driver to have more time to act. Driver will see safety light before than child who wants to cross the road.
